MISSION AND VISION
The Mission

Medico industry is working to provide member companies with the best possible conditions for developing, producing and selling medical devices.

Vision

The medical industry is helping to solve the health challenges of the future with innovative and cost-effective solutions that benefit patients and society.

The strategic platform
The overall strategic platform consists of three subject areas:

1. The Political Vision
2. The Industry Vision
3. The Service Vision

The Political Vision

All developed countries' health services face the same challenges in the coming years. Increasing demand due to demographic changes, rising expectations for treatment options and increasing pressure on public finances. The medical industry acknowledges a co-responsibility for addressing these challenges. The industry's contribution is the development and marketing of innovative products and solutions that add value to patients and value to society.
Medical devices must help to offer patients new, gentle and safe procedures that also contribute to more efficient health care processes.
Healthcare operators must focus on optimizing cross-sectoral processes and taking overall financial considerations into account for the deployment of new technology and the procurement of medical devices.

Industry vision

The Medico industry is a growing industry with great growth potential in the coming years. Medical devices are variously involved in the vast majority of health care processes. The industry therefore has in-depth knowledge of the healthcare system's actors and processes, and as a result can act as a facilitator and integrator between patients, health professionals and politicians in the effort to find effective and patient-friendly solutions.

The industry creates attractive, knowledge-rich jobs, attracts foreign capital and contributes large export revenues to the economy.

Service vision

The trade association offers industry-relevant and industry-specific service in three main areas.

Ongoing experience exchange and updating of expert-level knowledge in the association's network groups, industry-specific seminars and courses and an industry-specific diploma program. The association continually disseminates current industry-relevant news in newsletters and on the website.
Legal advice regarding competition law, procurement law, EU directives, compliance rules etc. Monitoring of industry-relevant legislation nationally and at European level.
The association is the political voice of the industry and represents the industry in councils, boards and associations nationally and at European level.

The medico industry is working to promote innovation, coherence and efficiency in the healthcare system. We want to play an active and visible role in the public debate on health care development.

Challenges that concern us all
Our health care system has been challenged these years. the number of patients is increasing as we live longer and have more chronic diseases. At the same time, the health care system is subject to some very tight economic conditions and demands for efficiency improvements.

We have to work smarter
As healthcare providers, we can help ease the pressure. The medical industry is a high-tech industry in rapid development. Some of the opportunities that exist today were hard to imagine just 5 years ago. The use of new medical technology can save resources in hospitals, ensure faster treatment with fewer complications, and better long-term recovery. This means that the health care system is releasing resources that are badly needed elsewhere.

Focus on development, regulatory conditions and marketing
The development of future medical products is a circular process involving development, the regulatory conditions, ie. the legal requirements and rules that apply in this area as well as the opportunities for marketing the finished product. These three conditions are a prerequisite for us to continuously offer new and better solutions to the industry. That is why the Medico industry is working to create the optimal framework conditions in the three areas:

1. How do we get safe products out to patients?

Let proven equipment stay on the market
Make sure innovative products are available in healthcare
Establish a new Danish notified body
Establish a good and timely establishment of the European medical device database
Continue developing a credible collaborative culture between clinicians and industry

2. How do we quickly get innovative solutions for citizens and patients?

Purchase value based and always consider purchasing and operations
Use risk sharing agreements that promote innovation
Include the clinicians in the procurement
Conduct good and innovative promotions in regions and municipalities
Give the individual citizen the help they need
Create a challenge to raise public health

3. How do we create more growth companies?

Offer early stage financing
Make it attractive to commercialize public research
Introduce secure access to health data
Strengthen the incentive for collaboration with hospitals
Establish a competitive research deduction
Attract qualified labor
